8/9 - SVL 2008 Results

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - It was a close tussle between UTS and USYD this year,
with both clubs having teams in almost all the division's finals. USYD had
an edge having entered more teams, however that would mean nothing if the
teams did not go on to win. In the end the success of those teams resulted
in USYD taking out the championship by a single point! Well done to both
clubs for a well fought competition! Congratulations to USYD!
 
Junior Girls - The Gold favourite UTS 2 looked out of sorts against SNV.
Whilst the game was a close one, SNV didn't drop a set taking the match 3
sets to 0. SNV v UTS 2 25-23, 25-23, 25-22. However, the UTS Girls picked
up a much deserved Silver with a strong and consistent year.
 
Men's Honours - The Bronze game saw an exciting five setter between UTS
and USYD. UTS continued their good form from last week and came out firing
to take the first set 25 to 21. USYD fought back to win the second but
could not continue their run and lost the third. That was followed by a
close fourth set which USYD managed to take out 26-24. UTS went hard in
the fifth and led 8-0 before USYD clawed their way back, however the UTS
led was too much for USYD and UTS took out the set giving them the Bronze
for 2008. UTS v USYD, 25-21, 20-25, 25-17, 24-26, 15-13.
 
Div 1 Sexy Lads - The gold playoff was always set to be exciting. UTS
defeated the Eagles in five close sets back in round 2 of the competition;
however the Eagles defeated UTS, again in five sets in round 14. With one
win to each team, it was hard to know who would come away with the win. A
point for point first set ended in UTS eventually taking it out 26-24. The
Eagles then kicked up a knotch and took out the next two sets. However
winning those two sets took it out of the Eagles and they collapsed in the
fourth losing 15-25. In the fifth, the game was wide open, however UTS
continued on their dominating run and took out the fifth 15-10. Gold to
UTS! UTS v Eagles, 26-24, 17-25, 19-25, 25-15, 15-10.
